MISSION CONTROL CLAPPING WITH ROCKET LAUNCHING

Skyrocket Your Willpower with the Blast-off Habit

Everyone knows that you need willpower to reach your health and wellness goals…

But, has anyone actually ever taught you how to use willpower?

No?

That’s what I thought. If we’re all supposed to rely on willpower, how come no one has ever taught us how to use it?

That’s all about to change because I’m going to teach you a super quick willpower method to fast-track your health and wellness goals. Soon, you’ll be jumping out of bed to get to the gym– no more hitting the snooze button.

The Two Ways to Use Willpower

There are two ways to use willpower.  One way is to NOT DO something–like not eat an extra piece of pizza.

Or, you can use willpower to DO something–like put your phone away and go to bed.

Today, you’re going to learn a Willpower Method to DO something.

At Real Healthy Habits we teach you to use willpower only in an emergency.  Instead, you want to make healthy habits, so you don’t have to rely on willpower for most day-to-day things!  You want to make a habit to go to the gym each morning (not rely on willpower.)

Willpower Emergencies Happen

But, let’s get real–Willpower emergencies happen.  Your bed is warm and cozy.  The last thing you want to do is get up at ZERO DARK THIRTY and do 100 burpees at the gym. So you hit the snooze button and then you hit it again.  Now, you have yourself a willpower emergency.  That’s when The Blast-off Willpower Habit comes in handy.

Your Brain Wants to Be Lazy

Before we get to the willpower hack, there’s one thing you need to know. It’s about the subconscious, habit part of your brain.  We call this your Autopilot brain. And the thing you need to know about your Autopilot brain is that your Autopilot brain is like a TEENAGER. It wants pleasure, wants to avoid pain, and wants to be lazy. It wants you to sit on the couch, eating potato chips, and binge-watching Netflix.

Now that’s not just your brain, that’s everyone’s brain…

So whenever you try and do something goal-oriented, your Autopilot brain is going to complain.  It wants to be lazy. And like any good teenager, it’s an excuse maker.

“I’ll only hit the snooze button this once… Ok, just one more time…”

“You worked out yesterday, so you deserve a break.”

“I’ll work out tomorrow.  I promise.”

Yeah, you know what I’m talking about.

The Blast-Off Habit

When the excuses start flowing, then it’s time for the Blast-off habit. Here’s how to do it.

To do the blast-off habit, you just make like NASA and start counting backwards.

5,

4,

3,

2,

1,

Blast-off.

Blast-off means no more excuses.

It’s GO time!

You’ve Used It Before

The blastoff habit isn’t new to you… You’ve used it lots of times – but not on you– you’ve used it on your kids.

See if this sounds familiar…

“I’m giving you five seconds to put your dish in the dishwasher–5..4..3.…2….….1.”

You didn’t even have to get all the way down before your kids are moving. Everyone knows you mean business if you start counting. They know something bad is going to happen if you get down to 1 (no one’s sure what it is, but they don’t want to find out either;-)

5 Seconds to Willpower

The Blast-Off Habit is super-simple and super-effective. Your Autopilot Brain knows that counting down means that you’re done with the complaining and excuses.  It’s time for action.  Time to rock n’ roll.  Time to get stuff down. Time to get up, put your gym clothes on and scoot out the door.

That’s it!  That’s the Blast-off Willpower Habit.

Just count backward from 5. Who knew that willpower could be so easy? Now you do, and you can tell all your friends that you learned a great willpower hack…

Full disclosure–The Blast-off Habit is based on a book by Mel Brooks. She calls it The 5 Second Rule. You can call it the Blast-off Habit or the 5 Second Rule, it doesn’t matter.

Just remember that if you need to DO something, all it takes is 5 seconds to ignite your willpower.
